Charged up for Vegas

Literally this post is about chargers and how we keep our cells and other electronics going while waiting at the airport, on the flight and during our trip to the strip.

Boy it seems like times have really changed since my first trip to Las Vegas. I’m pretty sure I owned a cellphone and maybe even a pager back then. I doubt I took them with me though.

I did bring a camera with me. It took real batteries and film. There’s a bunch of fuzzy pictures of Wayne Newton in a photo album somewhere in my house.

Nowadays unless you are real camera fiend you’ll probably just use your cell to take a few photos and immediately post them on Facebook or Instagram.

Sometimes we just take our cells. Other times we bring a tablet or laptop to watch a movie together on the plane. Last year we finally invested in a headphone splitter thingy so we don’t have to try and   share one. A great investment.

And over the years we’ve bought some good Skull Candy headphones. They help drown out as much airplane noise as possible so you can actually hear the movie you are watching.

I’ve ordered a few things from eBay for the next Las Vegas trip that I think will help make things easier. One of those things is a new back up charger for those days when your cellphone battery is draining fast and you don’t think you’ll be back to your room for a while.

It’s solar powered (and regular powered) and can charge two devices at once. We had one before but it’s disappeared. This is good to have even on the plane in case you watch a movie. I’m still waiting for it. I ordered it July 11th and the estimated delivery date is August 30th. I’m hoping it gets here sooner than that!

Another eBay purchase was new, 10 foot  lightening cables for our iPhones. Why so long? Well, because sometimes I like to play on my phone while it’s charging. This is also practical for charging at an airport. If you are lucky enough to find an outlet they are normally not close to the seats. This way you can keep your phone close to you while charging and hopefully not have to sit on the floor. They arrived today!! Woo hoo!!!

Now that all the strip hotels have added mandatory resort fees that include wifi we don’t always get U.S. Data Plans while there. Turning off the roaming is key here. The cellphone bill would be crazy otherwise. I also tell people to Facebook me if they need me and don’t expect an answer right away. I’m on vacation. Who do I need to talk to except who I’m with? Plus our oldest son has messenger to stay in touch.

So now all you have to do is load some awesome movies onto your electronics and you’re set for the flight. I will be posting some ideas for that soon.
