Las Vegas $20 trick update!

Since my last post about the $20 trick, when checking into Las Vegas hotels, I have a few updates. 100% success.

In January, a couple we know used the trick at Harrah’s. They got a free upgrade from a regular room to a suite. We received thank you’s via text.

In February, my husband and I went to Las Vegas with another couple. We had two regular rooms booked. Upon check-in we placed two $20 bills along with our ID and credit card. I asked if there were any complimentary upgrades available (insert smile). The female clerk said she would check. When she noticed the bills she asked if we were looking for change. We said no and then I think she figured out our ploy. I knew we were going to get a great upgrade when she asked if we needed the rooms to be on the same floor. We were given higher up rooms with a view of Paris and Bellagio fountains. Our original room would have faced the back of the hotel. Our rooms also had coffee makers, his and her sinks, and separate tub and showers. Wonderful. We got the Shawshank Redemption room. Fantastic. All for $20.

The clerk thanked us very much. No, no, thank you!
