Create memories, not garbage.

Metro Vancouver has a great Christmas campaign going – CREATE MEMORIES, NOT GARBAGE. I first saw their message on the back of a bus. It’s a great campaign that sums up what our family believes in for gift giving.

Check out their webpage for great green giving ideas like guitar lessons or bungee-jumping certificates. We will be doing most of our “kid shopping” at a toy store called Toy Traders. They have new and used, with a great selection of wooden and less packaged items.

Older nephews will be getting the usual “movie date with the aunt and uncle” gift but we might give in and give it as certificates. They never make up their minds what movie to go to 🙂

My husband and I regularly spoil ourselves. We don’t need a pile of stuff under the tree to show our love. Our Christmas present will be a trip to Las Vegas in the New Year. Ho ho ho!

What memories will you be giving this Christmas.

Grinch: That’s what it’s all about, isn’t it? That’s what it’s always been
ABOUT! Gifts, gifts… gifts, gifts, gifts, gifts, gifts! You wanna know what
happens to yor gifts? They all come to me. In your garbage. You see what I’m
saying? In your GARBAGE! I could hang myself with all the bad Christmas neckties
I found at the dump. And the avarice… THE AVARICE NEVER ENDS! “I want golf
clubs. I want diamonds. I want a pony so I can ride it twice, get bored and sell
it to make glue!” Look, I don’t wanna make waves, BUT this WHOLE Christmas

Former Education Specialist for a corporation, I have now taken a step back to spend time with my family and work closer to home. Hoping to reduce our waste through refusing, reducing and reusing so that we will not have to recycle as much. Also, I love to explore zero-waste fast food and take pictures of my sucesses. I'm a fan of British comedies like Red Dwarf and Black Adder, Kevin Smith and his movies, Asian food, documentaries, biographies and going to Las Vegas on vacation. If someone told me I could only listen to the Beatles for the rest of my life I would die happy.
