Recycling

Styrofoam heaven.

I have just found styrofoam heaven at our local recycling depot!

For only $2 they will take a large garbage bags worth of styrofoam and send it off to be recycled.

I have a box of assorted styrofoam ready for my next visit. Most was given to me by people who knew I would try to recycle it. Some of it, admittedly, is from a couple of times I gave up and ordered sushi without my own containers.

The new option is great but the best option is to not acquire the styrofoam in the first place.

I wonder where the styrofoam will go. What it will become. There are so many possibilities.

On another note, hope you are enjoying the wind down of summer! I’m planning on visiting the fair at the PNE before it’s over. We try to pack food to help save on the expenses that add up over the day. I think the kids will like to see all the farm animals and the super dogs. My husband goes for the mini donuts and the rollercoasters. I’m a sucker for the caramel apples with candy all stuck on them and want to look at the weird inventions for sale.

  1. Love your pictures!! We still can’t recycle styrofoam around here. Enjoy the fair, I’ve been so busy I haven’t made it to any of the local fairs around here yet.

  3. I wonder how comfy a styrofoam couch would be….
The fair, the fair! Let us hear about it! I love hearing how different they are in different parts of the world. Take pictures of the animals! I’ll post one about the fair when it gets here in October!

    • I’m really sure fairs here are not as exciting but I’ll give it a whirl for you! Hope your having a good day and that it’s not too hot for you 🙂

      • Candy apples and cows are always exciting. Do you know how difficult it is to find one of those suckers? (The candy apples, not the cows. I spend all year looking for them!)
It is hot, but the butterflies and dragonflies are abundant which make it a tiny bit more tolerable. But only a tiny bit. 🙂
I was just talking about you today with my mother!

  4. Probably too late to leave a comment here, but if you do see this, just fyi: I take styrofoam (even pieces, as long as it’s clean) to the UPS store and they use it for packing.
