Funny Return-It Commercial! Dumped

If women stopped dating men because they didn’t recycle… recycling would increase monumentally.

Hmm, sexiness shown through putting the empty beer bottle in the recycling box. I can see that.

On the one hand, we’re constantly told about recycling and cutting back, and on the other hand we have to buy the next gadget that comes along three weeks after the last oneย you bought. It’s absolutely insane. We’ve been suckered into buying and buying and upgrading and upgrading. We’re being given two very different mantras at the moment, I think.

Martin Freeman

The purpose – where I start – is the idea of use. It is not recycling, it’s reuse.

Wife, mom, concerned citizen of the earth. Striving towards intentional living rather than blindly following. Former Education Specialist for a corporation, I have now taken a step back to spend time with my family and work closer to home. Hoping to reduce our waste through refusing, reducing and reusing so that we will not have to recycle as much. Also, I love to explore zero-waste fast food and take pictures of my sucesses. I'm a fan of British comedies like Red Dwarf and Black Adder, Kevin Smith and his movies, Asian food, documentaries, biographies and going to Las Vegas on vacation. If someone told me I could only listen to the Beatles for the rest of my life I would die happy.

  1. that’s a cute commercial. Really though shouldn’t we pick our relationships by shared values, I think those work out best? You hit on the hypocrisy of our times. Save the planet, but continue to buy our products. It is insane.

    • I get sucked right into buying stuff still. I’m trying to work on it though. That’s why I haven’t rushed into buying a sodastream yet. I’m slowly saving up for one ๐Ÿ™‚

      • I have been reading your experiments with the flavorings for the soda stream. I can tell you really want it, it holds no allure for me at all. On the other hand, I stumbled upon some organic lemonade the other night and couldn’t talk myself out of it. I have been enjoying it ever since. You may ask what is so bad about lemonade…it came in a plastic bottle. It’s the first plastic I have bought in years. I won’t be tossing it though, with the heat we are having I will be using the empty bottle to chill water in my fridge.

      • I think sometimes we have to give ourselves a break. If this is your first plastic purchase in years your doing awesome. Sometimes I feel surrounded by plastic. My husbands Pepsi addiction is evident in our weekly recycling ๐Ÿ™‚ Plus, Organic Lemonade sounds great on a hot day!
