What I'm doing to be...

I am Radically Canadian. Are you?

I am Radically Canadian. Well, I will have a cool sticker that will say that anyways. There are people out there trying to make people like David Suzuki seem just like crazy radicals trying to do harm. If caring about the environment is radical then maybe I am a radical. Call me whatever you want but I’m not changing my views.

We have signed up to donate $5 a month to the David Suzuki Foundation. For many people $5 won’t even pay for their favorite drink at Starbucks but it will help the foundation work towards their goals.

If it’s radical to:

  1. Protect nature
  2. Defend informed debate and policies based on science
  3. Work tirelessly to leave Canada a better place

then we are radically Canadian! – from the David Suzuki Foundation website

I love David Suzuki. He speaks for all of us. Even the ones of us that don’t know we need any help.

For me this was a no-brainer. I am not willing to just talk the talk anymore. When we are out of debt we will be able to help out more but this is a start. Below is a copy of the e-mail sent to me when we signed up.

Dear Stephanie,

Thank you. Together, we stand committed to defending two of our most cherished values: nature and democracy.

With your monthly commitment, the David Suzuki Foundation can:
•	Protect nature;
•	Defend informed debate and policies based on independent science;
•	Find a path to a low carbon energy future;
•	Safeguard communities from toxic pollution; and
•	Work tirelessly to leave our country a better place for the next generation.

Thanks again for being radically Canadian. Your radically Canadian sticker will be in the mail at the end of the month.

Sincerely,
Peter Robinson, CEO

If you are looking for a foundation to donate to consider the David Suzuki Foundation. Even if you’re not Canadian…

About stephanieough

Wife, mom, concerned citizen of the earth. Striving towards intentional living rather than blindly following. Former Education Specialist for a corporation, I have now taken a step back to spend time with my family and work closer to home. Hoping to reduce our waste through refusing, reducing and reusing so that we will not have to recycle as much. Also, I love to explore zero-waste fast food and take pictures of my sucesses. I'm a fan of British comedies like Red Dwarf and Black Adder, Kevin Smith and his movies, Asian food, documentaries, biographies and going to Las Vegas on vacation. If someone told me I could only listen to the Beatles for the rest of my life I would die happy.

  1. We need more people like this to put value on what is really important. What David Suzuki is doing is wonderful, wonder if he could expand his foundation to the U.S
