A “Me” Party

We recently PVR’d a PPV of The Muppet Movie for the kids. It’s hilarious. The kids didn’t even watch much of it but it made me and my husband laugh. I love movies. One song in the movie made me think “What would I do at a “Me” party??When we are truly alone with ourselves our actions speak volumes. I very rarely am truly alone. Usually one or more kids (and maybe my husband) are sleeping when I get some quiet time. In the last year I recall a day where I came home and no one was here. It was weird. I didn’t know what to do. I made some dinner and cleaned up a bit. I considered having a bath or taking a nap but didn’t know when my mom would be home with the kids. I ended up sitting on the couch and watched some tv. Recently I asked a good friend of mine what she would do if she was all by herself in her own home. She said she’d curl up on the couch with a hot coffee and a good book. The idea of being able to drink a whole cup of coffee while it was still hot made her eyes twinkle. If I considered time by myself a “Me” party what would I do? If my internet surfing is any indication then maybe I would be singing and dancing! Truthfully I often daydream of painting and going to art galleries but I never do. If I was all by myself at our time-share in Birch Bay maybe I would be drinking a glass of wine and watching “Rock of Love” on VH1 or the American Version of the Food Network. If only we could get those channels in Canada… Not very un-realistic dreams!

What would you do on your own “me” party?

  1. Oh how I love the idea of a me party! I’m not too sure what I would do though. I’m so rarely alone that by the time I adjust to the idea someone shows up. Maybe Chinese food delivered, a cold Coke, a good book and if it was really a me party, the whole bed to myself for the night. My husband snores really bad! If I had a better budget then a day at a spa could be considered a me party.
