Easier solar power? Pretty Cool

Solar power is out of the reach of the average person. Or is it? Well it might be soon, anyways. This is a new product innovation for 2012 that really excites me.

Most solar panels are big, bulky things that sit on rooftops. Konarka has found the antidote in its Power Plastic, an 0.5mm thick, 3oz, wrappable, hangable, rollable sheeting that manufacturers can build into their products. Think laptop bags that recharge while you travel, a tent with a sun-powered generator, window shades that make electricity, and much more. The opportunities are nearly endless for this neat sheet of solar charge.” – Konarka

I don’t know why you would need a solar paneled tent but I’m sure there are reasons. The window shades idea sounds very interesting too. I’m glad to know that there are people thinking forward and evolving green ideas.

“Out of all those millions and millions of planets floating around there in space, this is our planet, this is our little one, so we just got to be aware of it and take care of it.”

Paul McCartney

“The good news is that . . . humans are gifted by the potential for self-awareness and intelligent choice, and knowing our circumstance is an invitation to change.”

William Rees

    • Susan,
Usually I celebrate earth hour but was on a quick holiday this weekend. I will be celebrating Earth Day though. Did you do anything special?

      • My daughter and I went to a candlelit yoga class. Really nice. My husband used our solar to watch a movie on his computer. He said that it didn’t seem like many people participated on our street.
