What I'm doing to be...

What I’m doing to… spend quality time with my kindergartener.

Quality time is easier said than done.

Since my toddler was born I can’t say that even one day my oldest son had my undivided attention. This week we took our kindergartener to Seattle for a few days. We left the youngest at home to focus all of our attention on the oldest. He’s been having a hard time adjusting to kindergarten so we hope that he will feel more settled now. A trip to the zoo to feed the penguins. A visit to Pike Place to watch the fish mongers throw fish. Swimming in the hotel pool. He’s convinced that the aliens from Toy Story live in that spaceship in the top of the Space Needle! Great trip all in all.

With renewed spirit we promise to take him swimming more frequently among other things.

I need to slow down and do the small things more purposely. Even brushing teeth the kids teeth can be quality time. Rushing through life is not what life is about. Hopefully I can figure this out.

We plan on consistently having a family night once a week from now on.

About stephanieough

Wife, mom, concerned citizen of the earth. Striving towards intentional living rather than blindly following. Former Education Specialist for a corporation, I have now taken a step back to spend time with my family and work closer to home. Hoping to reduce our waste through refusing, reducing and reusing so that we will not have to recycle as much. Also, I love to explore zero-waste fast food and take pictures of my sucesses. I'm a fan of British comedies like Red Dwarf and Black Adder, Kevin Smith and his movies, Asian food, documentaries, biographies and going to Las Vegas on vacation. If someone told me I could only listen to the Beatles for the rest of my life I would die happy.
