De-cluttering

Donating eyeglasses.

If you follow all of my posts (ha ha), then you would know that my husband had laser eye surgery in November. We gathered up all his glasses and an old pair of mine to donate. It was soooo easy. I just dropped them off at our usual optical store. They give them to a society that ships them to countries in need. In some third world countries eyeglasses can cost as much as a years pay.

For all you BC readers:

Donate Your Old Eyeglasses Via Mail:

Send your eyeglasses to: Third World Eye Care Society 2453 commercial Drive Vancouver, BC V5N 4B8 Tel: 604-874-2733

Drop Off: Drop off your old eyeglasses at your local optometrist’s office or eye care professional.

You can also have your eyeglasses picked up from any Vancouver or Richmond location. Please email Barbara Schrodt at recycle@twecs.ca with “TWECS” in the subject line to arrange for a pick-up of your old eyeglasses.

Your old eyeglasses CAN make a world of difference.

I’m sure there are a few more pairs hanging around of mine that we will donate. I wonder what would happen if everyone in North America donated all of their old eyeglasses. What is garbage to one person is a miracle for someone else. One person I know has had the same frames since the 70’s or 80’s. He just replaces the lenses. Problem with that is you can tell they are from the 70’s or 80’s. Yes that is very economical and environmentally sound but I couldn’t do it. I could prove my point by posting a picture of me in the 90’s and the horrible glasses I wore but I care about myself more than to do that humiliating thing!

Have a great day!
