Garbage day re-mixed.

Garbage day is more than just garbage. It’s recycling, composting, donating and then finally dumping. Even with all the de-cluttering we have been doing only one can of garbage went to the curb today! The green cone has been up and running all week so maybe that made the difference.

Recycling was a bit over the top this week. Single use water bottles were found in our van after some of the family went to the zoo so they were put out for recycling.  It’s too bad that I didn’t think ahead and pack the family reusable water bottles for the zoo. Some recycling from my work was put out too. So much work waste could be recycled and isn’t.

If you look very closely there are newspapers in the pile. Two newspapers were delivered without permission this week. Hopefully this will not continue into next week. I’d prefer not to have to call again.

More donations were put into the van and need to go off to the thrift store. Two of the items are robes. I had three robes. The big huge fluffy one that used up too much space plus the silky one had to go. The serviceable medium weight one got permission to stay. How many robes does a person really need? We still have a long way to go in minimising our waste but it’s starting.

Have a great day,

Wife, mom, concerned citizen of the earth. Striving towards intentional living rather than blindly following. Former Education Specialist for a corporation, I have now taken a step back to spend time with my family and work closer to home. Hoping to reduce our waste through refusing, reducing and reusing so that we will not have to recycle as much. Also, I love to explore zero-waste fast food and take pictures of my sucesses. I'm a fan of British comedies like Red Dwarf and Black Adder, Kevin Smith and his movies, Asian food, documentaries, biographies and going to Las Vegas on vacation. If someone told me I could only listen to the Beatles for the rest of my life I would die happy.
