Coffee is made daily in our home. I’m the only one that drinks it and I can’t see myself ever giving it up. What I did give up was the traditional way of making it. It’s “coffee un-plugged” so to speak. The last straw with my coffee maker was when I realized the plastic was being heated up along with the water that would eventually be my coffee. Plastic water bottles can leach BPA and all sorts of other nasties into the water. Logic dictates then that the plastic in coffee makers could be doing the same. So I use a bodum. The hot water is poured into glass and plunged by stainless steel. Way less stressful. No need to turn it off or un-plug it when your done. It’s easy to clean which is a great bonus. I boil the water in a stainless steel kettle that we use daily for all sorts of things. I doubt I will ever own a coffee maker again. There will be times that a coffee maker would be useful. My mom lent me hers for a party in May. Another family member has lent out her 40 cup percolator for those bigger events where a 12 cupper just won’t do. Other than those very rare times, all I need is my bodum.
